How to use music for spiritual work

Many people feel sorry for spiritualists. They say, ‘How awful! My God, what a life these poor people lead! They pray, meditate, practice some spiritual exercises, fast even, instead of taking advantage of the pleasures of life like everyone else!’ They do not know that, in the near or distant past, those people they feel sorry for have already lived the type of life that appeals so strongly to materialists, and have abandoned it precisely because they discovered other realms of life. Materialists cannot even imagine that spiritualists know other states of consciousness, which bring them other joys and much vaster, more stable and assured sensations of fulfillment. Materialists have no right to pass judgment on spiritual joys they have not yet experienced. Contrary to materialists, spiritualists have been able to compare: how can materialists reach a verdict in full knowledge of the facts, if they have tasted only one category of pleasure? They are much too quick to feel sorry for those who choose the path of spirituality. |
